don't wear these...
that should be common sense to you!!!
2. Girls...if you are going to wear this color pants....
aka "BLACK"
don't wear these color shoes...
aka "BROWN"
this also should be common sense!
3. If you are a teacher, principal, or HR specialist representating your school at a career fair and someone comes to your explains that they are a Secondary Social Science Major (aka, History teacher), DON'T and I repeat DON'T...SNORT and say "well good luck with that" in a snide voice!!!! Yes, I am fully aware that I am applying for jobs that are at a minimum. Yes, I am aware that if I was to go into Special Education that I could have had a job yesterday. But you know what? I need to teach that which I have a passion for, and you need to respect my educational choices...NOT diss on it! By tactful, be polite, direct me to your website, etc, etc, etc!
Those are my observations for today!
Oh by the way...

Hahah, I know exactly what you mean about the job fair!! I went to one not long ago and I was shocked at some of the things people wore. One woman was wearing jeans! Haha, it's not casual Friday, deary.
While it may be hard to find a job in Social Studies, at least we know that in the end we chose a career because we're passionate about it, not because it pays the big bucks ('cause it sure doesn't!!)
Best of luck to you, and I'll be following along with your quest for employment as I look for a job myself! I've got your back!
Good luck Rachel!
Amen on #3!!!
God has just the job in mind for you! It will come and you will love it!
I am so glad God has the perfect job for you and you do not have to rely upon mere men...
Can not wait to see what he has planned!
Take Care!
Did anyone call you back?
I went to a teacher job fair in college b/c I was burned out on teaching and didn't want to be a journalist (funny how things work out!) and they treated me the same.
Hi Rachel!!!
Good luck!!!!!!!
I HATE when men where black with brown! YUCK!
Good luck, Rachel. So glad to find your blog from SITS (I'm new there). I hope to hear you are happily employed very soon. I taught K-2nd and loved it. Now I'm finishing another master's degree in educational technology and hope to teach at our new online high school very soon. Right now I'm at home with the babies and teaching a few adjunct classes through our local college.
Look forward to "following" your blogging journey!
