Halloween Pictures

Here is Maddy running to go trick-or-treating!

Shannon and her purple-haired little witchie poo!

This picture makes her look so much older than her 10 years! OMG...please don't grow up

Me!

Aunt Rachel with her little Motor Cross Bike Rider Mason

Auntie and her little witch Maddy!

Fly Away little witch...fly away!

Cassie, Maddy and Mason

Cassie came to visit for the weekend from Gig Harbor

I had to add this picture because he loves to shake his bootie at me!

Cassie told him to make that face and sign...weirdo! Cute though

Trick-or-treating was actually kind of lame this year. My sister's neighborhood had more vacant and/or houses that simply chose not to give out candy. On every street there was at least 3-7 non-candy houses...which made for very poor trick-or-treating!

Happy Halloween!

Ernie, my brother-in-law, emailed me these cartoons the other day...so I thought I'd share them! I left off the more graphic ones (even though they were hilarious!).
Have a most SPOOKtacular Day!
Happy Halloween!

Call Me Betty

I was in a tiara wearing mood tonight! This little spider tiara was a Halloween gift from my BFF a few years ago! Love it...yes, I will be wearing it to work tomorrow, even though I work in a warehouse!

So I saw these cute pumpkin cupcakes in a magazine and thought they would be fun to make for the kiddos (and by kiddos I mean nieces and nephews) for Halloween tomorrow. The magazine said they were easy...THEY LIED!

I made cupcakes...cut them in half and then frosted them. What they neglect to tell you is how freaking hard it is to frost a cupcake completely without getting all the frosting on yourself! Then I took a second cupcake and put it on top...frosting them together. Then put green "leaves" on them...way TOO MUCH WORK. You may call me Betty Crocker...but Betty I'm not!

I had more cupcakes that I was planning on making into pumpkins...however, I QUIT!! I had already taken these out of their liners and cut the tops off in preparation for putting them together, but I didn't. I put them back into new liners and simply frosted them and put some ugly green leaves on them...Good thing the taste isn't affected by the looks and design!

I've Been Boo'd

Kelley with Amy's Angels Boo'd me today! No, no it's not a bad boo...it's a Halloween BOO!
As many of you are aware...I LOVE, LOVE Halloween. I was one of those children brought up to go knock on as many doors as possible gathering candy...so that it could be hoarded for weeks...traded with my sister and used as bribery with my parents (ok, ok...I think they just stole the candy! Using that whole razor in the piece of candy as an excuse to eat my chocolate...shame!!!)
We will be dressing up on Friday to go out trick-or-treating and I will put pictures up this weekend. Maddy and I are going as witches and Mason is going as a dirt-bike rider!

If I leave you a "BOO" comment on your blog, come and grab the picture off my navigation bar and put it on your blog!
NOTE: To grab the picture you simply right click on the picture, and choose "Save As" and save it to your desktop or wherever. Then you can upload the picture to your blog. Then once you have done that go BOO some other friends! Happy Hauntings.

What is in the Water in Fayetteville, NC?

Meet Pepe!
Pepe is Susana's dad. He is not a man who normally walks around the cafe (or his own shop) wearing Halloween garland!

Hmmm...maybe he is trying out as a Vegas showgirl!

Meet Paco!
Paco is obviously mal-nourished and has stopped by Cafe Espana for something to eat (I hear there Spanish Omelette's are to die for...can you next day air those to WA???)
I don't think that water is going to sit well in his stomach!
What is going on down in Fayetteville, NC (specifically N. Reilly Road right outside Fort Bragg....just in case you have a hankering for Spanish goodies and coffee...they make a GREAT Coconut Raquel...ok enough of the shameless plugging of BFF's business!) to cause such weird behavior.
Beware!
Who knows what will happen down there on Friday....

Traveling Round the World...With a Book

What do the two things have to do with one another? One, I love to travel!!!!! Even though I haven't been to a whole lot of places...I have been fortunate to travel to a few countries outside of the USA (Spain, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and islands in the Caribbean! Traveling is a must have in my life...the more trips the happier I am! To cure my wanderlust and thirst for other cultures I have found a site called Blog Around the World (or BATW for short). BATW is awesome...she has linked hundreds of bloggers from all over the world and features them on our endless trip around the globe...who knows maybe someday she'll do a little layover here in Moses Lake, WA....there are exciting things to do here (maybe!??!!)

Today's journey took us to Cairo, Egypt (doesn't that sound like a fantastic place to visit?) The blogger over at Wandering the World gave a great tour of her current home in Cairo...it was quite a nice tour...go visit...now...then come back!

So this brings us to the issue of books! I am almost never without a book in my possession. I have a book downstairs that I reading at night while watching TV. I have a book in my chair in my bedroom that I read once I make my way upstairs for the night. Then there are the boxes of books that are sitting next to my chair waiting to be read. And then there are the books that I know are enroute to me via paperbackswap.com where you can trade books for just the cost of shipping! I LOVE BOOKS!

(Yes, I did borrow this picture from the world wide web.) I did a post a few weeks ago about books that have been challenged and banned from some libraries (although I don't agree with banning books, I do believe that school libraries should be careful as to what is available to certain age groups). Today over at Wandering the World she had a list of the 2008 Angus & Robertson top 100 booklist...I am going to copy her idea and post the list here for you to take a look at. How many of these books have you read? Are you well-versed in literature? As much as I read I wasn't sure I was going to have read any of these books, as I don't always read mainstream literature. However I was pleasantly surprised...the books that are bolded are the books that I have actually read front to back!

1. Harry Potter series - J.K. Rowling
2. Twilight - Stephenie Meyer
3. Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen (It kills me to admit I haven't read this when it is my BFF's favorite book...or one of them! Sorry Susana!)

So go pick up a book and read!

Hi and Hello

I feel as if I haven't seen (talked?....what do you say when you communicate via a blog?) you all for awhile. Tuesday night I had a scratchy throat and Wednesday woke up feeling like CRAP!!! I spent the next two days in bed and then only worked half a day on Friday. It was a combination of migraines, sinus, cough, sore throat...etc, etc, etc! Whatever it was, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm getting better, although I have a nasty cough still hanging on...UGH!!!

Some of you who know me better know that I have been working on getting out of debt. More specifically...getting out of credit card debt. At the heyday of my credit card madness I had at least 7 credit cards...all maxed out!!! UGH!!! Well, I paid another one off this week (YEAH!!!) and only have 2 left! I also have only 3 months left on the loan I took out to pay for new furniture when I moved this last February...the furniture was one of those pay no interest as long as you pay within a year...I've kept it within the year period. Come January, when I have to student teach, I will have less money that needs to go out which will make a lot easier! I know that it is going to be hard when I have to start paying student loans back, but I should a better handle on finances at that point! Hallelujah!

Maddy and I went and saw High School Musical 3 last night! **SIGH** Why is Zac Efron only 21? He should be at least 34! LOL.....it was definitely along the same lines of the other two movies. It had that corny, Disney feel, but we loved it anyway! The only part I think was why over cheesy was the last song of the movie where they actually sing about High School Musical! I'd have to say this probably should be the end of the road for this teeny-bopper movie series!

Happy Birthday Dajia!

My cutie patootie niece Dajia is 4 today! Happy Birthday Baby! She is such a girly girl too...likes to dress up and have tea!

This is her "innocent" look!

This is probably my favorite...she's got a glint of bad, bad, bad in her in spite of the angel wings an halo! This is angel with attitude!

Dajia Rose is a sweetie...a hellion at times--only because she loves people and every time we are around her she is running around like a wild maniac! She just gets so excited she can't help it!

We went to Chuck E' Cheese this last weekend for her birthday and we had a ton of fun. Her and Mason were playing so hard they had sweat rolling off of them...ugh! I was a bad auntie though and didn't take any pictures...I know...SHOCKING! But that's alright these pictures are much better than anything I could have taken.

Photo Tagged

My new blogger friend Ronnica from Tale of a Kansas Girl tagged me in a photo tag meme. I of course said YES!! I love tags...surveys...random questions, etc., etc...

Here are the details you must follow:

1. Go to the sixth picture folder, and then to your sixth picture.

2. Pray that you remember the details...and then proceed to tell us the details!

3. Tag 5 others and comment that they've been tagged.

See this is an easy one!!!

Here is my picture--I remember this!! This is Miss Erica, aka Snow White, and that is her Momma Monica (the best SO CAL Scrapper I know!). I was living in Oceanside last year and worked for Ever After Scrapbook Store in Carlsbad, CA. Erica came in with her Mom handing out cute little Halloween baggies of treats for us! Isn't she cute???

Here are the five people I am tagging:

1. Dena--I think her picture will have Cooper, Paige or Zeke...three of the cutest kids I've ever seen!

2. Holly S.--Now that you have regular access to a computer there is no excuses!!! Not sure what her picture will be.

3. Monica--You have to play since my picture is of your Erica!!!

4. Tamara--She lives in beautiful Hawaii, so my guess is that her picture will be a beautiful scenery shot!

5. The Other Rachel Ann--This fun blogger found me through googling Rachel Ann...and I came up!! Our Moms knew what they were doing when they named us! I've only known Rachel for a few weeks through our blogs, so I am excited to see what she posts.

If I didn't tag you and you want to play along...please do...this is a fun meme to pass along!

Have fun.

Today is.....

National Bosses Day!

Be nice...go tell your Boss that you appreciate him or her...take them out to lunch...buy them coffee....tell them how swell of a job they are doing.

At the very least?

Stop thinking nasty things about them in your head!!!
**In no way does using the picture above insinuate that I, Rachel Ann, like, watch or even endorse the TV show The Office. In fact, I find it quite lame...but that is just my opinion. And hey guess what? This is my blog...so my opinions count the most here!**

Cool Pic

Mason didn't want me to take his picture at the football game....so he moved quickly...that added with the so-so lighting created this.

I like it!

Go Chiefs!

This is the outcome of four days of cheer camp...one of which she bailed out on because she was "tired"....how do you bail on something that was only four times, I do not understand!

Anywho...Maddy did go to cheer camp which was led by the "big girl" cheerleaders from Moses Lake High School (that's what they called themselves!) The finale of camp was the opportunity to cheer with the big girls the first half of the last home game of the Moses Lake Chiefs football team.

Maddy is in the back...white coat...third from the right!

Go Chiefs! I'm sure they said other stuff...but I was way too busy paying attention to the other people at the game...plus there were people in my way and I couldn't really see her too well!

This was the score at halftime...the Wenatchee Panthers were beating us 17 to 13...and they ended up winning! We left at halftime since Maddy was done...because it was killer cold out! I think that those people in charge of sports should change football to a Spring sport...especially if I have to sit out in the cold to watch!

Does This Picture Make Sense?

I popped into Safeway (VONS for you Southern CA folks!) to grab some turkey and yougurt for lunch (by the way Yoplait's Boston Creme Pie is delicious!). As I was walking down the Frozen Novelties aisle (why do they call it frozen novelties? Hmmm.) I noticed the scene above!

Does anything look strange to you?

No!??!

Well, let me explain!

This is the ice cream as noticed by the boxes of Vanilla icecream inside the cooler. Outside the cooler? Well usually there are ice cream toppings or scoopers, but today? There is Children's Sunblock sitting out.

Now I thought someone might have put one there because they were a drop and run grocery shopper. But nope! Look closer...there were at least 6 bottles of the stuff. Do they expect people to put on sunblock while eating ice cream in the FALL?

Not sure if this was good product placement or not....I think they need to try again!

Happy Birthday Brittany

Today is Brittany's 14th birthday!!!

This is an older picture (I'm at work and don't have any pictures of her on this computer...I don't have many pictures of her since she doesn't let anyone take any...but that is another story!!) She has blonde hair now...scroll down a bit and you can see more recent pictures.
Brittany can be the biggest pain in the buttinski...yet I still love her. When she was about 4 years old I moved in with them to be their "nanny" and ended up living with them (them being my sister, brother-in-law and 5...then 6 kids) for almost five years! After a few years of seeing each other 24/7 we would get into knock down dragged out fights...it wasn't pretty!
But now???
We live apart...we don't have to see each other every second of every minute of every day!

And you know what???

We get along so much better! LOL!!!
Brittany...I hope you have a super-fantastic day! I guess we are going to go out dinner tonight...you, me, Maddy and Mason (I watch them every Wednesday night). I promise this time I won't have them sing "Happy Birthday" to you...or maybe I will...hmmm!

SITSta Love

I have a complex! I have an overwhelming need to know that people other than Marcie and my Mother read my blog! Does this make me a bad person? LOL!!!

Well, I've found the solution to my problem and a whole passel of woman who now pass through my blog and leave me tons of comment love! The woman? SITS girls from all over the world....SITS you say? SITS (aka...The Secret is in The Sauce!) is this great site whose purpose is to promote blog recognition and comment support!

I only found the site less than a month ago, but I have had so much fun showing up there daily...leaving comment love of course...and then checking out the featured blog of the day. There are some crazy funny woman out there in blogerville....I love looking through all the blogs. It reminds me of driving by people's houses at night and seeing them in the window...as a kid I always kind of wondered if these people were real or not. YES, I know that is kind of insane reasoning, but hey admit it...if you don't know the people it is hard to connect with them and make them reality in my head (Ok...if you don't know me then you don't know that I am totally random...)

Today SITS is having a BLOGATHON! They are having contests all day and giving everyone the opportunity to visit new blogs...Some of the blogs that I have found through SITS (and follow on a regular basis) are:

1. Tales from a Kansas Girl--Ronnica is definitely a breath of fresh air and totally hilarious! I love her point of view on things and the different ways she writes her blog posts.

2. Pennies in my Pocket--This is a new one for me...and I LOVE her! She shares great coupons and such online, and got a $100 gift certificate to my sister's favorite Sushi place for only $20 last week.

3. Cherry's Jubilee--I love all the Halloween stuff that she has on there...giving me some great ideas for Halloween and other crafts.

4. Have Inspiration...Will Travel--I am enjoying following Jamie's journey, especially since she is going to go to one of my favorite places...PBR!

5. My Remodeled Life--This is a blog that caught my eye with some of her scrapbook pages and crafts...I also liked her post about her Grandpa.

6. Rachel Berry--I started with this blog because she has great pictures...and now I just enjoy peeking into her life.

Please take a look around these blogs and get to know these fun women! As for my blog? Browse a little or a lot...enjoy reading and looking at pictures!

Red Robin

First of all...you need to have the Red Robin song in your head...you know where the Red kinda goes up a bit and drops down into Robin? Maybe you just need to be in my head to hear what I am hearing!

I had to West Richland...that's in the Tri-Cities...about an hour from my house on Saturday. I was going there to pick up a FREE artificial Christmas Tree that I plan on using for Halloween ...I got it from freecycle (Marcie, are you proud of me???)
Maddy made the decision to go to Red Robin for lunch...we don't have many choices of where to eat here in Moses Lake so we take advantage of it everytime we go somewhere else! While we were eating lunch she asked me if they would sing "Happy Birthday" to Brittany if we asked...being the ever so gracious Auntie, I replied, "Of course. That is a great idea!" While secretly thinking in my head that it will great embarrassment to her! I know, I know I am mean!
This is Brittany saying OH PLEASE NO!!!

This is of course the younger sibling who is getting quite hysterical over the fact that her older sister is getting super embarrased! Little does she know I asked them to sing to her too...her birthday was on the 3rd and Britt's birthday is on Wednesday the 15th.

This is her, "I'm totally pissed at you...but secretly pleased that you love me enough to embarass me!" At least that is what I am pretending she is thinking!

Maddy just thought the whole thing was stinkin' funny! Oh yeah, Britt was also mad because they brought her balloons and I made her carry them out to the car by herself!

Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend

This week I've finally had to say goodbye to a dear friend of mine...

My friend's name?

SUMMER

Yes, summer is over and I am devastated. At the beginning of this week I was still able to wear just a t-shirt to work and flip-flops at night. However, mid-week it got so cold that I brought out the huge comfy down comforter and threw it on my bed. I went from sleeping with one blanket to three blankets!!!

Yesterday morning I went out to my car and there was ice on the windows! Not the kind of ice that takes a long time to defrost, but ice nonetheless.

And the final notice that my friend was gone?

I had to dig out my nice, heavy, warm coat this morning to wear to work! I couldn't just wear a sweatshirt this morning, I had to wear a COAT!!!

Oh, the memories I share with my friend....barefeet in the warm, green grass....a cool breeze on a warm day....flip-flops for months on end....open windows all day and all night long....air conditioning in Sadie (that's my car!)....swimming....long days of daylight...

Now, my acquaintance has come to visit....Mr. Winter...and he is EARLY!!! Ms. Fall should be here right now...sweatshirt wearing times. I think that she got bumped off by Mr. Winter and she should file a complaint with the local police department. I think Mrs. Spring and Ms. Summer should get together and put a hit out on Mr. Winter...maybe we'd find him buried in concrete at the bottom of a nasty, dirty river....oh, a girl can dream!

When I Die...

When I die I want to ask God:

Why did you make flies?

Because seriously...they are irritating!

Warning!

I went a little picture uploading happy tonight!

There are few days at my house where I get a continuous internet connection and can actually upload pictures. So have fun looking!

On another note...do you want to know how much of a dork I am?

Well, I decided to go out to dinner tonight to a Mexican restaurant...no big deal...just a local place...relaxed and comfy! I changed out of my jeans and into my running pants to go out before leaving.

Well, just about an hour or so ago when I sat down in my comfy chair in my bedroom I looked at my pants and noticed they were inside out! OMG!!! Yep, you got it...I wore my pants inside out...not only in public but I went inside a restaurant, sat down, ate dinner and walked back through the restaurant to go out to my car!

Sheeshh....I'm a dork!

Look What I Made!

This is the cute Advent Calendar I made tonight! All the pieces were given to me last year from my favorite SoCal Scrapper Monica! She was making them for a class at Ever After...the scrap book store I worked at while living in Oceanside, CA. She needed help at her class, I helped and she rewarded my handsomely!!

It is made with a mini-muffin pan...the pieces are then cut out the same size and put on adhesive backed magnet sheets (this is how they stay on the muffin pan!)...then die cut numbers for the days counting up to Christmas! I admit I went a little STICKLES happy and put a lot of glitter on it...but hey, the more glitter the better!

Here is a little peek behind the number 24...you can add sweets or little trinkets behind each number as someone looks behind each number! I am going to take it to work with me in the morning and have one of the guys drill two holes at the top so I can put ribbon in it and hang it from a dowel on the wall!

I don't have kids to enjoy candy each day, but I'll still put it up for fun!

Scrapbook Room Organization

I have decided to stay in Moses Lake longer than I've been planning the last few months, and in fact I start my student teaching in the history department of Moses Lake High School in January! Since I am staying longer I have decided to put together my spare bedroom and turn it into a scrapping room.

These shelves are shelves that I bought years and years ago and I am now using them to store fun scrap items! My ribbon is hanging on ribbon rings...love these!!! I'm putting stuff on the shelves to kind of look like a store (at least in my opinion)...paints, new books waiting to be used, an iron, and cutesy chaatkeys (how do you spell this???)

Here is a close-up of my new ribbon rings! They are inexpensive and easy to use...and I got tons of ribbon on each ring! Love having my ribbon out so I can see it...now if I can just convince myself to use my ribbon instead of staring at it so lovingly!

Here is my other shelf full of STICKLES...I love this stuff. I seriously think I have a glitter addiction. I bought all of the Stickles colors from Ebay last year! I'm sure new colors have been added, but I think I have enough for now...but maybe I should go take a look at Ebay!
