15 minutes of fame....

My friend Marcie and I are getting our 15 minutes of fame today! The Puyallup Herald did an article on local blogs and both of us were featured in the blog! I was featured as a personal blog, aka, insight into another person's life! Marcie was featured because her blog Purposeful in Puyallup is a green blog (aka earth friendly!!).

The link to the article is: What's in a blog?

Yeah, for 15 minutes...wait, it's taken me about three minutes to write all this and link everything up...so I guess I'm down to about 12 minutes of fame now!!!

Holy Roller Book Review

Summary

Julie Lyons was working as a crime reporter when she followed a hunch into the South Dallas ghetto. She wasn’t hunting drug dealers, but drug addicts who had been supernaturally healed of their addictions. Was there a church in the most violent part of the city that prayed for addicts and got results?

At The Body of Christ Assembly, a rundown church on an out-of-the-way street, Lyons found the story she was looking for. The minister welcomed criminals, prostitutes, and street people–anyone who needed God. He prayed for the sick, the addicted, and the demon-possessed, and people were supernaturally healed.

Lyons’s story landed on the front page of the Dallas Times Herald. But she got much more than just a great story, she found an unlikely spiritual home. Though the parishioners at The Body of Christ Assembly are black and Pentecostal, and Lyons is white and from a traditional church background, she embraced their spirituality–that of “the Holy Ghost and fire.”

It’s all here in Holy Roller–the stories of people desperate for God’s help. And the actions of a God who doesn’t forget the people who need His power.

Hey You Guys.....

I should not, repeat, SHOULD NOT have to tell you what movie the title of my post is from!!!

See that house right in the middle?

The one right below the one on top?

Can you guess whose house it is?

Do you recognize this house?

Please, please tell me you are a child of the 80's!?!!!

Does this sign give you a better idea?

Are you a true Goonie?

If so, can you tell me whose house is below?

Hmmm...I wonder who knows whose house is whose....

I'm thinking that my BFF Susana knows exactly whose houses these are! If you are one of facebook friends your vote/guess doesn't count here as I already told you!!!

Do you recognize this place?

Nowadays it is known as the Flavel Museum...I guess he is some bigwig explorer type dude in Astoria, Oregon.

I know it as the workplace of Mikey's Dad!!! Remember when they are riding their bikes past and Mr. Walsh is raising the flag? This is where he worked!!

How 'bout this place?

Fratelli brother pretending to hang himself?

The ring of fire outside the county jail?
And this place?

The epitome of the movie THE GOONIES!!!!

This is Haystack Rock....one of the greatest visionary images of the movie!!!

You guessed it....I went and checked out the famous places from the movie The Goonies throughout Astoria. We also saw the elementary school for Kindergarten Cop and the rock levy from Free Willy.

You'd be amazed at the amount of movies made in and around Astoria! Did you know that Point Break, starring one hot Keanu Reeves, was filmed in the same ocean/park that the Goonies was? Mmm...hmmm...that's right!!!

They went and left me behind....

Last week was a sad, sad day in Moses Lake for me.....

This little guy and the rest of his family decided to move to Idaho Falls.....

Along for the ride where some friends of theirs and their two children. Liberty seems to fit right in with the family on the U-Haul truck.

Ernie told Mason that was his seat for the whole ride to Idaho....

Brittany actually let me take a picture (or two)....it was a concession on her part as I was threatening her with scrapbook pages that would not benefit her what so ever....mean Auntie I know...but I got what I wanted!

Cassie came over to help pack, clean, paint and clean some more!!! She'll be with them a few weeks in Idaho then head back home to Gig Harbor.

Me and my bestest buddy Maddy....I'm going to miss her!

Sniff, sniff...I already do!

My sister Shannon

Adios Moses Lake...till we meet again (which will probably be never as there is nothing going for Moses Lake at all!)

Liberty and Mason...my two grinning Cheshires wish you and your family a very Happy Fourth of July. Play safe everyone and have a great holiday.

God Bless America!

Happy Birthday Sadie

I know, I know....who celebrates their car's birthday you are thinking...

I DO!!!

Today is my Sadie's second birthday...still cute as the day I got her. Well, actually she has a few stains in the backseat from children who shall go nameless (ahem, M&M) and she needs a good detailing...but I love her!!

Stay tuned for some Seaside, OR pictures to be coming throughout next week...that is where I am heading tomorrow with my friend Holly, her mom Barb and the rest of their clan!

Mason's Swimming Debut

Well, he's not Michael Phelps....but he might get there one day!

Water Park Fun

My two little water rats...Maddy and Mason

We didn't realize they would be moving from Moses Lake so soon so we bought season passes to the Moses Lake water park...even though they didn't get to use them all summer we got our money's worth and had lots of fun!

Maddy likes to swim in the deep end and Mason prefers the shallow end; however, there is only one of me and two of them so we have to do a lot of compromising!!

These are the slides that Maddy likes to go down!

This is the slide Mason goes down...more because of his size (too short for the tall slides) than anything else

One of their favorite pasttimes at the park is jumping in over and over and over and over...do you get the picture?

The thing is....Mason can't really swim quite well and so I have to stand in front of him and "catch" him so I get splashed over and over and over and over....

And there goes Maddy!

Being a small town both Maddy and Mason usually find someone that they know and can play with. For some reason the people Mason usually knows tend to be cute little girls...my little Romeo!
