Why do...

....singers of one genre think that they can successfully cross over into another genre of music? Have they conquered the genre that they are in, and are trying to conquer another fan base of listeners? Have they quietly been kicked out of their music scene because they haven't released anything in eons?

I think they do it so that I can blog about it!!

Who am I ranting about?

Darius Rucker

AND

Jessica Simpson

Darius used to be the front man for Hootie and the Blowfish...EXCELLENT group and EXCELLENT music! Don't get me wrong, I think this guy is fantastic. But to go from pop to country? Really? Doesn't really strike my fancy.

And Jessica....oh Jessica! Words fail me sometimes. I know that she initially wanted to be a Christian singer, but was "shot down" because of her looks and such. Then she entered the pop scene where she has had a major career. Now? She just released a country CD!!! Why oh why????

Singers...if you read this (I'm sure that my blog could get into the hands of someone famous!) stay where you are!!!! Glorify God with your voice but don't change genres unless you are ABSOLUTELY 100% sure that it will work and that the listeners will appreciate it!

8 Stupidest Morons

Thanks Charlie for sending this to me via email...I hope that all of you in bloggerville enjoy!

WELL, IT DOES TAKE ALL KINDS

TOP 8 MORONS OF 2007

1. WILL THE REAL DUMMY PLEASE STAND UP? AT&T fired
President John Walter after nine months, saying he lacked intellectual
leadership. He received a $26 million severance package. Perhaps it's
not Walter who's lacking intelligence.

2. WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS: Police in Oakland, CA spent two hours attempting to subdue a gunman who had barricaded himself inside his home. After
firing ten tear gas canisters, officers discovered that the man was
standing beside them in the police line, shouting, 'Please come out
and give yourself up'.

3. WHAT WAS PLAN B? An Illinois man, pretending to have a gun, kidnapped a motorist and forced him to drive to two different automated teller machines, wherein the kidnapper
proceeded to withdraw money from his own bank accounts.

4. THE GETAWAY! A man walked into a Topeka, Kansas Kwik Stop and asked for
all the money in the cash drawer. Apparently, the take was too small, so he tied up the store clerk and worked the counter himself for three hours until police showed up and grabbed him.

5. DID I SAY THAT? Police in Los Angeles had good luck with a robbery suspect who
just couldn't control himself during a lineup. When detectives asked each man in the lineup to repeat the words: 'Give me all your money or I'll shoot,' the man shouted, 'that's not what I said!'.

6. ARE WE COMMUNICATING? A man spoke frantically into the phone: 'My wife is
pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart,' 'Is this her first child?' the doctor asked. 'No,' the man shouted, 'this is her husband!'

7. NOT THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHED! In Modesto, CA, Steven Richard King was arrested for trying to hold up a Bank of America branch without a weapon. King used a thumb and a finger to simulate a gun. Unfortunately, he failed to keep his hand in his
pocket. (hellooooooo)!

8. THE GRAND FINALE!!! Last summer, down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, CA, some folks, new to boating, were having a problem. No
matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new 22 foot boat, going. It was very sluggish in almost every maneuver, no matter how much power they applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted into a nearby marina, thinking someone there may be
able to tell them what was wrong. A thorough topside check revealed everything in perfect working condition The engine ran fine, the out-drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check
underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard.

NOW REMEMBER...THIS IS TRUE....

Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer!

Surprise! Surprise! The girls of Cafe Espana made a cake for Susana's birthday which is on Saturday (shhh....she will be 34!)

Susana went next door to her Dad's shop; when she came back they all surprised her and sang "Happy Birthday" to her!

This is Wilma, Vanessa and Carmen. Vanessa and Carmen work at Cafe Espana and Wilma comes in every day for coffee. She is a super sweet lady, she gave me a fun little notepad just because!

This is Carmen, Raine and Laura. Raine and Laura are both Washingtonian transplants! Funny how you meet people from home so far away from home.

This is Aurora and Juanita. Aurora is the cook/baker for Cafe Espana. She is simply FANTASTIC. I've had ham/cheese/mushroom empanadas; tortilla de patata (spanish omelette), cakes, cookies, salads and more that she has made and all are DA BOMB!!! Juanita is Susana's mom and a wonderfully nice lady!

Of course, it would be complete if I didn't include a picture of me and Susana. These are the last days of both of us being 33!!! LOL....in just a few days she will be 34 and I get to wait until September before turning 34.

Fayetteville, NC

Here are a few pictures from downtown Fayetteville

This is the Marketplace in the center of downtown.

I found this sign quite humorous...we don't like panhandlers in WA either; however, we don't make signs to discourage the act!

Unfortunately, we didn't go into this store, but I thought the name was hilarious!!! White Trash & colorful accessories!

This is in front of the Special Forces Museum. All the flags are up in honor of Memorial Day!

Is a funky house in Fayetteville. Doors, doors and more doors! Evidently they go nowhere! It looks like a house was plopped on top of the roof, and there is a door up there as well...I said that is where the bad kids are sent!!

Wilmington, NC

Yesterday, Susana and I took a little drive to the Ocean to Wilmington, NC.

This is Wrightsville Beach we went to yesterday in Wilmington, NC. It was hot, but windy! I went swimming in the ocean and LOVED it--even though I felt like a big salt block afterwards. I do have to say that the one thing about living in Washington is that the beaches and ocean aren't quite the same as on the East Coast.

This is me in front of the Battleship North Carolina.
**This is my wenchy picture according to Susana....I have a new swimsuit and I don't really have the chest to fill it out all the way!! Hope no one is offended!!*

This is a fun little shopping center that we went to. It is the size of a city block enclosed with cutesy shops inside. We had a great conversation with the owner of the Ladybug store...she was hilarious!

Inside the City Market was a wall of autographs from celebrities. This one is from Josh Jackson who was on Dawson's Creek which was filmed in Wilmington, NC. One Tree Hill is filmed there now.

We went down the river walk and this picture of Waldo was on the corner! We thought it was funny...great drawing of Waldo!

TV Show Reminiscing

OK!

I thought I might be going crazy...but thankfully I'm not!!! LOL!

Stephen Kilbreath from KMPS was talking about the TV show Boomerang the other day on air and I was surprised but delighted. I used to watch that show all the time when I was a kid! Yesterday Susana and I were talking about old TV shows, and since that was fresh in my mind I said, "Hey how about Boomerang!" She gave me the look like, Hmm you crazy dorky friend! I insisted that it was a real show and even called her sister today to ask her...she didn't know it either.

So between Susana's sister and I we did some internet searching and found a website that talks about BOOMERANG...YEAH!!! The reason for my possible craziness? It was a local show in the Seattle area...it wasn't everywhere in the US!! It ran from 1980 to 1984 with some re-runs. Do any of you remember this show?

Another show that I remember (well at least remember watching re-runs) was H R Pufnstuf! Now that was a weird show. Susana and I have come to the conclusion that everyone creating kid's television shows in the 70's was high on something! Have you seen some of this stuff?

To prove it...here is a little bit for you to watch!

Need a reason to visit....

....the St. Louis Airport?

Well, they have these bright blue rocking chairs everywhere for you sit in while you wait for your flight. How cool is that? They obviously are moveable so you can scoot it by your friends/family or strangers that you might be flying with! For people like me who have a THREE hour layover, they are quite nice. I actually was sitting in one for a few minutes, but then I went on a plug-in hunt so I could get on the computer. (I admit that I purchased Internet here at the airport!! UGH!!!).

Well, I'm going to finish surfing the net and checking email before my flight is called!

Happy Armed Forces Day to all past, present and future military men, women and the families that support them~

Going Green

I'm not a green person. I don't profess to be, and honestly, I'm lousing at it! However, since I have green friends who are EXCELLENT at being Earth friendly (aka...Marcie!!!) I am starting to learn easy ways of being green and just soaking in the information that comes my way via Marcie's blog.

Tonight I went to Safeway to buy just a few groceries, and walked by the Safeway organic green grocery bags that you re-use each time you go shopping. I thought to myself, "Hmmm...I should really buy one of those and quite getting tons of plastic bags." Well, I got to the check out and had forgotten to get one, and so I was just going to blow it off until next time; however, the checker must have noticed that I was "missing" something and asked me if I needed anything else. I told her that I needed one of the re-usable bags, and away she went to get me one.

So this girl is starting small! But at least I'm trying. What are you doing to make our Earth a better place to live?

Hi

I feel like I haven't written anything in forever!

Work has been crazy busy. A new term of school started. I seriously cannot wait to be completely done with school...no more studying for tests and so on and so forth. I'm also leaving tomorrow for a week!! Yeah!! I'm heading to North Carolina on Saturday to visit my BFF :) for a few days before spending the holiday weekend with some friends round and about Moses Lake!

I just wanted to let you know I'm still here...I haven't gone away...just busy.

PS....I'm so excited that it is David vs. David on American Idol finale!!!

Flowers

Look what I got last night....flowers!
From Maddy and Mason? Nope...
from the kids that live in my little unit of townhouses! They were actually trying to "sell" me some flowers when I got out of my car; however, once I gently said no they started giving them to me. They left some on the doorstep, and then they came, rang the doorbell and gave me more. I thought they were really sweet!
