So next weekend is Memorial Day weekend! One of the most popular weekends in the year to go out and go camping. Are you a camping family? Do you have great stories about camping? I grew up in a family that "camped", or so we tried to camp!! My friends had me camping throughout my college years as well...let's just say that those camping trips were stories in of themselves. Then we have all those youth group and MC camping/overnight trips throughout the years. We've also done GPS "clue" searching games.
Wouldn't it be fun to combine the two? Camping and GPS treasure hunting?!? I think this would be a blast. And I know a great place to get camping and GPS rentals? This site has everything you need for you and your youth group to have a fun weekend hunting treasures...kind of like your own mini-Amazing Race! What's even better is that this site specifically talks about youth groups and addresses what they need specifically to have a fantastically run event. If you have never done any kind of GPS treasure hunt then you need to organize one. Yes, this is great for the kids in your youth group (and believe me they will love you), but it is totally a blast for all you "BIG" kids too! They give you all sorts of tips on backpacking, bears (Ok....I don't think I'm going anywhere with bears...oh wait, I have been to Montana and seen a few!!), tent care and set-up, geo-caching, what the right gear is, what you should pack, and much more. But my favorite topic that they list is, "Suggestions for Good Sleep!" So if you are a youth leader or you have kids who are in youth group and they need good ideas suggest a GPS treasure hunt/camp out experience. I guarantee you will all have a blast!
