Trick-or-treating was actually kind of lame this year. My sister's neighborhood had more vacant and/or houses that simply chose not to give out candy. On every street there was at least 3-7 non-candy houses...which made for very poor trick-or-treating!

Call Me Betty
I made cupcakes...cut them in half and then frosted them. What they neglect to tell you is how freaking hard it is to frost a cupcake completely without getting all the frosting on yourself! Then I took a second cupcake and put it on top...frosting them together. Then put green "leaves" on them...way TOO MUCH WORK. You may call me Betty Crocker...but Betty I'm not!

Hmmm...maybe he is trying out as a Vegas showgirl!
Traveling Round the World...With a Book
Today's journey took us to Cairo, Egypt (doesn't that sound like a fantastic place to visit?) The blogger over at Wandering the World gave a great tour of her current home in Cairo...it was quite a nice tour...go visit...now...then come back!
So this brings us to the issue of books! I am almost never without a book in my possession. I have a book downstairs that I reading at night while watching TV. I have a book in my chair in my bedroom that I read once I make my way upstairs for the night. Then there are the boxes of books that are sitting next to my chair waiting to be read. And then there are the books that I know are enroute to me via paperbackswap.com where you can trade books for just the cost of shipping! I LOVE BOOKS!
(Yes, I did borrow this picture from the world wide web.) I did a post a few weeks ago about books that have been challenged and banned from some libraries (although I don't agree with banning books, I do believe that school libraries should be careful as to what is available to certain age groups). Today over at Wandering the World she had a list of the 2008 Angus & Robertson top 100 booklist...I am going to copy her idea and post the list here for you to take a look at. How many of these books have you read? Are you well-versed in literature? As much as I read I wasn't sure I was going to have read any of these books, as I don't always read mainstream literature. However I was pleasantly surprised...the books that are bolded are the books that I have actually read front to back!

Hi and Hello
Some of you who know me better know that I have been working on getting out of debt. More specifically...getting out of credit card debt. At the heyday of my credit card madness I had at least 7 credit cards...all maxed out!!! UGH!!! Well, I paid another one off this week (YEAH!!!) and only have 2 left! I also have only 3 months left on the loan I took out to pay for new furniture when I moved this last February...the furniture was one of those pay no interest as long as you pay within a year...I've kept it within the year period. Come January, when I have to student teach, I will have less money that needs to go out which will make a lot easier! I know that it is going to be hard when I have to start paying student loans back, but I should a better handle on finances at that point! Hallelujah!
Maddy and I went and saw High School Musical 3 last night! **SIGH** Why is Zac Efron only 21? He should be at least 34! LOL.....it was definitely along the same lines of the other two movies. It had that corny, Disney feel, but we loved it anyway! The only part I think was why over cheesy was the last song of the movie where they actually sing about High School Musical! I'd have to say this probably should be the end of the road for this teeny-bopper movie series!

Dajia Rose is a sweetie...a hellion at times--only because she loves people and every time we are around her she is running around like a wild maniac! She just gets so excited she can't help it!
We went to Chuck E' Cheese this last weekend for her birthday and we had a ton of fun. Her and Mason were playing so hard they had sweat rolling off of them...ugh! Cool Pic
Go Chiefs!
Maddy is in the back...white coat...third from the right!
Does This Picture Make Sense?
Does anything look strange to you?
No!??!
Well, let me explain!
This is the ice cream as noticed by the boxes of Vanilla icecream inside the cooler. Outside the cooler? Well usually there are ice cream toppings or scoopers, but today? There is Children's Sunblock sitting out.
Now I thought someone might have put one there because they were a drop and run grocery shopper. But nope! Look closer...there were at least 6 bottles of the stuff. Do they expect people to put on sunblock while eating ice cream in the FALL?
Not sure if this was good product placement or not....I think they need to try again!
Happy Birthday Brittany
But now???
And you know what???

SITSta Love
Well, I've found the solution to my problem and a whole passel of woman who now pass through my blog and leave me tons of comment love! The woman? SITS girls from all over the world....SITS you say? SITS (aka...The Secret is in The Sauce!) is this great site whose purpose is to promote blog recognition and comment support!
I only found the site less than a month ago, but I have had so much fun showing up there daily...leaving comment love of course...and then checking out the featured blog of the day. There are some crazy funny woman out there in blogerville....I love looking through all the blogs. It reminds me of driving by people's houses at night and seeing them in the window...as a kid I always kind of wondered if these people were real or not. YES, I know that is kind of insane reasoning, but hey admit it...if you don't know the people it is hard to connect with them and make them reality in my head (Ok...if you don't know me then you don't know that I am totally random...)
Today SITS is having a BLOGATHON! They are having contests all day and giving everyone the opportunity to visit new blogs...Some of the blogs that I have found through SITS (and follow on a regular basis) are:
1. Tales from a Kansas Girl--Ronnica is definitely a breath of fresh air and totally hilarious! I love her point of view on things and the different ways she writes her blog posts.
2. Pennies in my Pocket--This is a new one for me...and I LOVE her! She shares great coupons and such online, and got a $100 gift certificate to my sister's favorite Sushi place for only $20 last week.
3. Cherry's Jubilee--I love all the Halloween stuff that she has on there...giving me some great ideas for Halloween and other crafts.
4. Have Inspiration...Will Travel--I am enjoying following Jamie's journey, especially since she is going to go to one of my favorite places...PBR!
5. My Remodeled Life--This is a blog that caught my eye with some of her scrapbook pages and crafts...I also liked her post about her Grandpa.
6. Rachel Berry--I started with this blog because she has great pictures...and now I just enjoy peeking into her life.
Please take a look around these blogs and get to know these fun women! As for my blog? Browse a little or a lot...enjoy reading and looking at pictures!
Red Robin
This is of course the younger sibling who is getting quite hysterical over the fact that her older sister is getting super embarrased! Little does she know I asked them to sing to her too...her birthday was on the 3rd and Britt's birthday is on Wednesday the 15th.
This is her, "I'm totally pissed at you...but secretly pleased that you love me enough to embarass me!" At least that is what I am pretending she is thinking!

Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend
My friend's name?
SUMMER
Yes, summer is over and I am devastated. At the beginning of this week I was still able to wear just a t-shirt to work and flip-flops at night. However, mid-week it got so cold that I brought out the huge comfy down comforter and threw it on my bed. I went from sleeping with one blanket to three blankets!!!
Yesterday morning I went out to my car and there was ice on the windows! Not the kind of ice that takes a long time to defrost, but ice nonetheless.
And the final notice that my friend was gone?
I had to dig out my nice, heavy, warm coat this morning to wear to work! I couldn't just wear a sweatshirt this morning, I had to wear a COAT!!!
Oh, the memories I share with my friend....barefeet in the warm, green grass....a cool breeze on a warm day....flip-flops for months on end....open windows all day and all night long....air conditioning in Sadie (that's my car!)....swimming....long days of daylight...
Now, my acquaintance has come to visit....Mr. Winter...and he is EARLY!!! Ms. Fall should be here right now...sweatshirt wearing times. I think that she got bumped off by Mr. Winter and she should file a complaint with the local police department. I think Mrs. Spring and Ms. Summer should get together and put a hit out on Mr. Winter...maybe we'd find him buried in concrete at the bottom of a nasty, dirty river....oh, a girl can dream!

Warning!
There are few days at my house where I get a continuous internet connection and can actually upload pictures. So have fun looking!
On another note...do you want to know how much of a dork I am?
Well, I decided to go out to dinner tonight to a Mexican restaurant...no big deal...just a local place...relaxed and comfy! I changed out of my jeans and into my running pants to go out before leaving.
Well, just about an hour or so ago when I sat down in my comfy chair in my bedroom I looked at my pants and noticed they were inside out! OMG!!! Yep, you got it...I wore my pants inside out...not only in public but I went inside a restaurant, sat down, ate dinner and walked back through the restaurant to go out to my car!
Sheeshh....I'm a dork!
Look What I Made!
I don't have kids to enjoy candy each day, but I'll still put it up for fun!
Scrapbook Room Organization
These shelves are shelves that I bought years and years ago and I am now using them to store fun scrap items! My ribbon is hanging on ribbon rings...love these!!! I'm putting stuff on the shelves to kind of look like a store (at least in my opinion)...paints, new books waiting to be used, an iron, and cutesy chaatkeys (how do you spell this???)
