Rearview Mirror

I am assuming (and yes Mama Q in high school algebra always said, "Never assume because all it does is make an ass out of u and me!!") that the lady behind me in the silver car at about 4:15 pm at the corner of Division and Broadway in Moses Hole, WA was playing Itsy Bitsy Spider with someone (hopefully someone young enough to appreciate it) in the backseat. Granted, I could not hear what she was saying...nor can I confirm that there was someone in the backseat although she kept talking towards the back....but I can tell you that she seemed to be making the hand motions for Itsy Bitsy Spider. HOWEVER, all she did was the water spout...what happened to the rain and the sun coming out?

I guess I'll never know.....

....but that is what I observed today through the rearview mirror. Strange things you see in those rearview mirrors.

It seems like I see more and more people cussing me than anything pleasant. Found you on SITS!

I'll have to try that sometime. I usually don't look in my rear view to see what's going on in the cars behind me. Seems like you could learn a lot (like whether or not they belong in a white coat lol)
Happy SITS Day!

Yup. One benefit to the cell phone era is you can say/sing whatever you want and people will think you are on the phone. Hand motions however ...

That's too funny! I have to admit that I'm guilty of doing that! I never really thought about what the other drivers were seeing!

penguinsandladybugs said...

Well, one can only wonder what was going on if, in fact, there wasn't anyone else in the car.....

Stacy Uncorked said...

Cute post! I've seen people doing that...and I've done it myself! ;)

Happy SITS Day! :)

That's great! I love to people watch when I'm in the car. All I usually see is people picking their noses or singing along with the radio though!

jewelstreet said...

lol. That's funny! I never see stuff like that.

Congrats on being the SITS queen of the day!

Happy SITS day. Very funny story. I thought I was the only one who got lectured on what assume stood for. And be glad she wasn't doing something awful like picking her nose or (even more dangerous) putting on mascara. I've seen drivers do both of those things although not simultaneously. (Ugh, did I spell that right?)

wenderful said...

Happy SITs Day! I often wonder what people think when they see me. Sometimes I'll turn around and say something to the backseat even when nobody is there if I've been talking to myself and feel a little self conscious. :)

Too funny! I often wonder about what the people BEHIND me think because I have the mirror flipped so I can watch the girls but still see out the back... I'm talking in that rear view all the time, and I bet there have been times when people behind me thought I was talking to them or worse...

Tori said...

Hahaha thats great. My sister and I once tried to get people's attention by being a huge contrast--I sat rigidly still and looked nearly constantly straight ahead while driving and she was ALL over the place rockin' out. We were watching to see if anyone noticed...and out of about 50 cars, I think maybe 2 made any sort of facial expression to make it seem like they saw us? I think you would have noticed :-D

Happy SITS day!

That is so cute! I remember once singing something for my daughter in the car, and the two girls in the car in front of me were laughing at me (in a good way, I think). The things we do for our kids!

Thanks for sharing! Happy SITS!

I wonder how many people watch me in the car because I dance and sing and get crazy with my kids. We have the most fun in the car. Its good times, but I know what you mean. When I am alone in the car I watch the other peole through my mirrors to so as to keep it a secret that I am watching what they are doing. Guessing what they are saying. Its fun.

I have my mirror rigged so I can flip it (you know, for night driving and headlights) to see my children. This morning we were "Kung Fu Fighting" on the way to school. Wonder what the guy in front of me wondered?!

Oh, I once saw a mini van mom taking a hit off a joint while driving down the road. Her three carseats were empty, thank goodness.

Haha...that's great. I sometimes try to figure out what people in other cars are doing, especially when they are obviously singing along to the radio. Do you remember my story about seeing a guy blowing bubbles? He didn't have a little one in backseat, either!

Sometimes you've just got to include the hand motions when singing in the car! It is great that this woman was more focused on the moment than the possibility of looking foolish to those around her. We should all be taking notes.

I dont so much use my rear view mirror for checking out other people--but everyone I drive past, I wonder- is my car that dirty? Do I look that crazy? Is she fatter than me?

Guess I am a little self-invloved huh?

Hey Rachel Ann- From your bio we sound like we could be long lost soul sisters. Anyway, I also wonder when I'm going crazy things in the car with my little monkey if people are watching and wondering what in the heck I'm doing.

LOL I often wonder what other folks in traffic are thinking of me when I'm busily entertaining my kiddo in the back seat. Goodness knows Itsy Bitsy Spider is probably among the least dramatic things! :D

By the by, I'm glad that you said it the right way - I almost got into a brawl at a Gymboree class once over Itsy Bitsy vs. Eensy Weensy Spider. Eensy Weensy? I don't think so!

Cheers from a SITSta!
