Gov. Gregoire

How unfortunate to live in a state where the Governor isn't the greatest at making wise decisions. Washington State has always been known as a liberal state, and it has shown in the laws we have passed (abortion) and the people that have been placed in office (I am not a Gregoire fan, and never will be).

On Saturday, Governor Christine Gregoire signed a domestic partnership bill into law. What does this mean? It means that those who are same sex couples, and elderly couples have the same legal rights as married hetro-sexual couples in our state. They basically said it was ok for gay and lesbians to co-habitate and receive the same benefits as married men and women. I have nothing wrong with gay and lesbians.....God has said to LOVE the sinner and HATE the sin. Do I think they are wrong? Yes, but that is for another day.

I believe that this new law simply throws WA State into arenas that we didn't want to go before this, and that traditional wedding vows are getting a low blow.

This quote from a recent news article sums it up best:

"I think it's an unfortunate step backward, not knowing where it will lead us culturally," said Joseph Fuiten, a Bothell pastor who is the leader of Positive Christian Agenda, a state group of Christian organizations opposed to gay marriage. "Giving 'marriage-lite' benefits without the benefit of marriage strikes me as not a good idea."
